Abstract

Most staff of educational development units in Australasia produce a ‘newsletter’ of some sort. Issues of Teaching and Learning (ITL), produced by the Organisational and Staff Development Services (OSDS) unit at the University of Western Australia (UWA), is one of the most enduring. In 2002, ITL celebrates its eighth year. Ten editions are produced each year and over eighty thousand copies have been distributed to date. This paper provides an overview of ITL including the guiding principles and practices behind its production and the significant learning experience for all those involved. Results from a survey of readers conducted in late 2001 are reported in order to provide insights into the usefulness or otherwise of investing in such a publication.
