Announcement of HERDSA Grants Scheme: Call for Grant Proposals 2021
28 February 2020

HERDSA offers grants to HERDSA members to fund research and/or development projects on teaching and learning in higher education that directly align to the mission of HERDSA.

Four (4) grants of AUD$5000 each are available. Priority for one grant will be given to applicants identifying as Indigenous/First Nations (e.g. Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Māori or Pacific Nations).

The call for HERDSA Grant applications is made in November/December. Applications close at the end of February. Successful applicants will be announced by the end of April. Grant applicants have one year to complete the project. Final Grant Project reports will be due by the end of April 2022. Project grant holders are expected to present their findings at the first HERDSA Conference (June/July) following completion of the project and publication in, e.g. HERDSA Connect, RDHE or the HERD journal.

For more information about the Grants Scheme (Timeline, Eligibility, Expectations, Grant Funds Guide, Application and Assessment Process, Application Form and Templates) see the HERDSA website: https://www.herdsa.org.au/herdsa-grants-scheme

Call for Papers/Proposals: Immersive Learning Research Network (iLRN) 2021 Conference – Fully online, 17 May to 10 June 2021
15 January 2021 (Main round), 8 April 2021 (Late round)

The International Conference of the Immersive Learning Research Network (iLRN at http://immersivelrn.org/ilrn2021 ) is the premier scholarly event focusing on advances in the use of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and other extended reality (XR) technologies to support learners across the full span of learning—from K-12 through higher education to work-based, informal, and lifelong learning contexts. It is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Education Society, with proceedings submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore®.

This year's conference will once again be based on the iLRN Virtual Campus, powered by Virbela, but with a range of activities taking place on various other XR simulation, gaming, and other platforms. iLRN 2021 attracted well over 3,000 registrants from across the globe, making scheduling challenging; this year’s conference activities will be spread over a four-week period so as to afford more participation opportunities at times conducive to attendees’ local time zones.
