University of Liverpool Master of Arts in Academic Practice
5 January 2023 for January start

The University of Liverpool have an exciting new postgraduate programme in Academic Practice to help you enhance or begin your teaching career in higher education. The programme is delivered on an online and part-time basis with students studying in small cohorts alongside fellow professionals from across the world.

There are three study awards for the programme – starting with a Postgraduate Certificate Academic Practice, moving on to a Postgraduate Diploma Academic Practice and, finally, a full Master of Arts Academic Practice.
Active learning plays a fundamental part in the programme structure on all awards. You will have opportunities to demonstrate your understanding of educational concepts and barriers to learning and your ability to apply pedagogical theory from varied global perspectives to the classroom. Furthermore, you will be encouraged to utilise international educational frameworks to design lessons, set assignments and design learning outcomes that can be applied to your own context or to a global teaching space.

The online Postgraduate Certificate Academic Practice programme has two pathways depending on your background. For those who do not hold a substantive teaching position in higher education, out first pathway is a route to gaining a Postgraduate Certificate Academic Practice that will provide an excellent grounding in the theory and practice of teaching and supporting learning in higher education in a global context.

If you hold a substantive teaching position and you can demonstrate Descriptor Level 2 of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF), our second pathway enables you to earn a Postgraduate Certificate Academic Practice and simultaneously gain recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) through our unique partnership with Advance HE, the UK’s foremost agency for driving excellence and developing leadership in higher education.

We are accepting applications for a 10th January 2023 start date. The application deadline is 5th January 2023. There are also intakes in May and October.

Contact our online programmes Admissions Team to find out more.
