Invitation to participate in international survey – COVID19 effect on academics

The COVID-19 crisis is having a profound effect on the welfare, wellbeing and health of academics and students around the world. Funded by the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) a survey has been designed by an international team of researchers to capture the perspectives of academics, working in every country context, on the continuing challenges posed by this global crisis. Dr Fiona McGaughey from the UWA Law School is the Australian representative on the study.

Please help by responding here: https://tinyurl.com/yby2o7qp . The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

Ethics information: Approval to conduct this research has been provided by the University of Western Australia, in accordance with its ethics review and approval procedures. Any person considering participation in this research project, or agreeing to participate, may raise any questions or issues with the researchers at any time. In addition, any person not satisfied with the response of researchers may raise ethics issues or concerns, and may make any complaints about this research project by contacting the Human Ethics office at UWA on (08) 6488 4703 or by emailing to humanethics@uwa.edu.au. Thank you so much for participating.

Kind regards

Fiona

Call for participants for an online exams research project

Hello,
I am leading a study into how higher education institutions have or are considering sourcing and deploying online exam platforms and tools. We like to invite you to an interview to discuss your experiences with online delivery of assessments and exams. You would be asked participate in a semi structured interview of approximately 30 minutes duration. The interview will be held on Zoom Video Conferencing with my co-researcher, Jacqueline Ruello. We are looking for insights (at a faculty or institutional level) from people involved in the decision making and implementation phases of online exams.

The overall research objective is to define the requirements and affordances of a technology enabled exam solution. This will be done with a view to pilot and evaluate the efficacy of moving whole or part of the exam process to an online environment as an alternative assessment modality to the traditional pen and paper-based exam.

Our aim is twofold:
To identify pain points with current exam system(s) that might be alleviated by using technology to deliver exams.
To identify any potential benefits arising through the use of technology that could not be leveraged from traditional paper exams.

Participation is completely voluntary, and you may withdraw from the discussion at any time.

If you decide to take part in the study, you can do this by emailing Jacqueline Ruello (Jacqueline.ruello@sydney.edu.au) and she will co-ordinate a time to have a chat.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Peter
