Abstract

Offshore campuses of Australian universities are the face of the Institution in the host country, providing either a strong promotional opportunity, or a quality assurance challenge that can threaten the brand of the parent entity. Attracting, retaining and developing a high quality academic staff to the offshore campus is an essential part of providing a quality program. This paper argues the case for an holistic approach to staff development, that depends on close relationships with the parent's faculty, and a strong commitment to in-house teaching and learning support.

Keywords: Offshore campuses; academic recruiting; staff development; teaching community.
