HERDSA Conference 2019 - Prizes

HERDSA prize for BEST PRESENTATION BY A STUDENT ($450)
Student presenters will be judged on their ability to effectively communicate as well as on the academic content of their presentation. The prize will be awarded at the conference. 

HERDSA prize for BEST POSTER ($300)
All posters are eligible for this prize. Posters are assessed by all conference delegates on both the ability to visually communicate as well as on the academic content of the poster. The best poster prize will be awarded to the poster that receives the highest number of votes, with a runner-up prize awarded to the second-highest poster. The prize will be awarded at the conference. 

We look forward to seeing you in Auckland, 2-5 July 2019.

Call for tenders - review of HERDSA website

Abstract, paper deadline or event date:17th June 2019

HERDSA is seeking tenders to review the HERDSA website http://www.herdsa.org.au/.

The brief for the tender is to provide an evaluation strategy to the HERDSA executive with costing and timeline with the purpose to 
1. Review the current HERDSA website for useability, accessibility and clarity of communication etc against the approved evaluation criteria
2. Propose a structure for the home page and 1-3 sub levels below the home page and which includes each of the HERDSA portfolios.

Jennifer can also provide Information of the technical aspects of the HERDSA website.

Note that it is not intended that the actual website work will be carried out in this review.

HERDSA 2019 pre-conference workshop: Talk About “your” Teaching And Learning (TATAL)
:Online activities commence Tuesday 18th June. Pre-conference workshop date = 2nd July.

Is it time to ‘hit the pause button’ and reflect on my teaching? Do I have a teaching philosophy? Well, TATAL might be for you. 

The 9th HERDSA TATAL workshop offers an opportunity to share, reflect and review the values and beliefs that underlie your approach to teaching and learning. We’re ‘flipping out’ in Auckland HERDSA TATAL this year. The day-long pre-conference workshop on 2nd July (with a working lunch – provided) is supported by an online pre-conference learning experience, starting 18th June. 

Following the conference, you can continue the experience with the workshop group to develop a teaching portfolio, suitable for a HERDSA Fellowship or HEA Fellowship application.

Applications open for 2019/20 NCSEHE Research Grants Program
Proposals must be submitted by 5pm WST on Friday 19 July 2019

The NCSEHE operates a competitive Research Grants Program to encourage, and build upon, the research expertise that already exists across Australia in higher education student equity issues.

Proposals are now invited from high-quality researchers and equity practitioners to conduct policy-relevant research aimed at supporting and informing policy and practice on student equity in higher education.

Funding for several small research projects is available through a competitive selection process. It is anticipated that the majority of grants will be for between AU$30,000 and AU$40,000, although other amounts may be considered. Grants will commence in September 2019 and must be completed within 12 months (closing October 2020).

The 10th anniversary LAK conference will be held in Frankfurt, Germany from March 23 to March 27, 2020. The conference theme is "Celebrating 10 years of LAK: Shaping the future of the field". General conference chairs are Hendrik Drachsler and Christoph Rensing, while Program Chairs are Vitomir Kovanovic, Maren Scheffel, Niels Pinkwart, and Katrien Verbert.
