Call for chapters: Supporting Course and Programme Leaders: individual, team and institutional approaches’
15 April

We are delighted to open a call for chapters and case studies for a SEDA/Routledge book 'Supporting Course and Programme Leaders: individual, team and institutional approaches’

‘Programme leader’ is synonymous with other titles such as course director/convenor, and refers to any role that involves the leadership, management or oversight of a programme or course of study in higher education, including under or postgraduate certificates, diplomas, degrees and higher apprenticeships. This role is critical in the current UK HE context and is widely understood and adopted within organisational structures across International HE contexts. Although there is an extensive literature exploring academic leadership and curriculum design, very little speaks specifically to the uniqueness of the complexities, challenges and opportunities of the Programme Leader role, topics this book will address.

Proposals are invited for 5,000 word chapters OR 1,000 word case studies that address developing effective programme leadership, taking individual, team and/or whole institution approaches. The book has an expected publication date of early Spring of 2020. Completed chapter proposals must be sent to the co editors Rowena Senior, Susan Maron Garcia and Jenny Lawrence (r.senior@aston.ac.uk and jenny.lawrence@hull.ac.uk) by 5pm Monday 15th April 2019.
