Invitation to participate in online research survey
14 May 2018

I am a Master of Philosophy degree student at the University of Adelaide. You are invited to take an online survey. It will take about 10 minutes. You have until 14 May 2018 to take the survey. To open the online survey go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/T738N5C
This study has been approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee at the University of Adelaide (approval number H-2018-036).
Your responses will assist my investigation of the nature of the relationship between purpose and policy in organisations, with a particular focus on how this relationship is manifest in the policy of selected Australian universities. As a starting point I want to find out what the people who work in universities say about the purpose of education and the purpose of educational institutions before comparing this data to the policies of selected Australian universities to see what they can tell us about the purpose of the institution.
I’m seeking responses from people currently or recently (i.e. within last 18 months) working in Australian Universities in a wide range of roles – academic, professional and leadership. If you wish to pass this email on to colleagues who are or have recently been employees at an Australian university, please use this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/T738N5C
Participation is completely voluntary. If you exit the survey anytime before clicking on the final SUBMIT button your responses will not be captured. Responses will be anonymous. Participant information is embedded in the survey. If you have any concerns or questions about participation in this research project please contact me directly at stephanie.eglinton-warner@adelaide.edu Alternatively you can contact either of my supervisors at cate.jerram@adelaide.edu.au or edward.palmer@adelaide.edu.au

“TRAVEL IS FATAL TO PREJUDICE, BIGOTRY, AND NARROW-MINDEDNESS.”

Mark Twain

Today, travel and studying in other countries as a student is common in most first world and developing countries. In this address, Vickie will review, research experiences and her reflections on a lifetime of introducing USA and other university students to new experiences and understandings of diverse languages and cultures. In her work, Vickie has gained deep and first hand insights into the personal learning, understandings and profound insights many students gain from guided Study Abroad experiences.

Your feedback sought on 'University Teaching in Focus: A learning-centred approach'

"University Teaching in Focus: A learning-centred approach" Lynne Hunt and Denise Chalmers (Eds.) (2012).
We are seeking your feedback on the edited edition of this book, with the view of exploring the idea of a second edition. We would very much welcome any comments you might want to make about the book and its contents.

Some questions that you might consider are:
How did you use the book? Eg as a set text for a course? individual interested in teaching?
What chapters did you find particularly useful? Why?
What chapters were less useful for you? Why?
What elements in the chapters worked well / annoyed you? Eg Your Thoughts, Case studies
Who is the audience this book should best target?
What aspects or topics do you think should be included if a second edition was to be developed?
Any other comments?

Please send your feedback and comments to denise.chalmers@uwa.edu.au

Many thanks for considering this request and your response.
Denise Chalmers and Lynne Hunt
