HERDSA 2020 postponement

The HERDSA 2020 conference planning committee and the HERDSA Executive have been monitoring the spread of the COVID-19 virus across Australia and the globe.

After much consideration and discussion with input from our event management team, the conference planning committee and HERDSA regret to announce that the HERDSA 2020 conference in Brisbane has been postponed until July 2021.

HERDSA 2021 will be held at the same venue, the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, from Wednesday July 7th to Saturday July 10th.

Please mark these dates in your calendar now!

This difficult decision was made in an atmosphere of great uncertainty. While by June/July there may be greater certainty and the spread of COVID-19 may have been contained, we had to act now. The postponement aims to minimise financial loss for delegates and HERDSA, to provide clarity for all concerned and of course considers the health and well-being of our colleagues.

All presenters, currently registered delegates, sponsors and exhibitors will be contacted as soon as possible. Further information will be forthcoming once the conference planning committee and the HERDSA Executive have considered a process to move forward.

This is a huge disappointment for everyone involved. Since notifications went out last week, we have been noting the tweets from delegates excited about the prospect of presenting their accepted showcase, roundtable or poster at the conference, many of you sharing that this would be your first HERDSA conference. We hope you can maintain your enthusiasm and join us in 2021.

Please watch this space and social media for further updates.

Allan Goody, Conference Chair
On behalf of the HERDSA conference planning committee

Denise Chalmers, HERDSA President
On behalf of the HERDSA Executive

Call for papers closing soon - University Assessment, Learning and Teaching: New Research Directions for a Postdigital World
Submissions close Monday 23 March - get your abstracts in now!

To mark our fifth anniversary, Deakin University’s Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning (CRADLE) is hosting a higher education research conference from 19 to 20 October 2020 in Melbourne. The conference aims to provide a focused forum for higher education research as a discipline. Cutting-edge conversations will centre around rigorous, high-quality conceptual and theoretical contributions exploring the future of higher education research in a postdigital age. Our keynote speakers are Professor Monika Nerland (University of Oslo) and Associate Professor Alyssa Wise (NYU).

We are calling for papers from researchers interested in conceptual, theoretical and empirical explorations of higher education in a postdigital world, aligned with CRADLE’s core themes:
• assessing for learning
• learning in a digital world
• learning through, and for, work.

We are particularly interested in research that advances theoretical, conceptual and methodological understandings. Categories: research papers, symposia, and rapid orals. See https://www.cradleconference2020.org/ for more details.

CAULLT April conference postponed
April 2 and 3

Due to the current situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) the CAULLT executive committee has decided that the April CAULLT conference should be postponed until later in the year - probably October. The AGM is also postponed.

We understand that not only is the health and wellbeing of our community paramount, but our members in particular have been hard hit by this pandemic and in addition, many are unable to travel. CAULLT will continue to monitor the advice issued by the relevant health authorities.

These are unprecedented times for us all but you can be assured that CAULLT will continue to operate remotely as it usually does between conferences. If you have any questions, please contact secretariat@caullt.edu.au

ICED 2020 conference Cancelled

The ICED 2020 conference planning committee and the ICED Board have been monitoring the developing crisis of the COVID-19 virus as it spreads across the globe. After much consideration and discussion, the ICED 2020 conference planning committee and the ICED Board regret to announce that the 2020 conference that was to be held in Zurich in June has been cancelled.

The decision was made in an environment of great uncertainty and with the aim of minimising financial loss for both delegates and the host institution as well as providing clarity and certainty for all concerned.

All registration fees will be automatically refunded. Registered participants, accepted presenters, Student Ambassadors and scholarship holders will receive further information by email.

The planning committee and the ICED Board are considering alternative options that may happen at some time in the future. Further information will follow as soon as soon as these options have been explored.

This is a huge disappointment for everyone involved, but we know that it is for the greater good.

With best wishes

Allan Goody, ICED President, on behalf of the ICED Board and 2020 Conference Planning Committee
