Director Academic Strategic Projects, University of Tasmania

The Director Academic Strategic Projects is a newly created position which provides an exciting opportunity for an outstanding collaborative Project leader to contribute to the University of Tasmania during a period of strategic transformation.  Reporting directly to the Provost, this key position identifies and guides the successful implementation of a portfolio of major projects and programs within the Office of the Provost and the Academic Division, relating to the wider University.  The Director is responsible for ensuring that the projects align with the broader Divisional and University strategies, bringing strategic and operational insight to bear, and providing expert guidance on project methodology and delivery.

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven ability to operate in a complex environment, be able to lead with a consultative and pragmatic style, and have highly developed strategic capabilities.  You will utilise a range of structured, best practice approaches to identifying and developing solutions to complex problems, and will work effectively to those goals in conjunction with staff across the University.  You will have strong project management and leadership skills and breadth of experience in strategic and operational project and program delivery, preferably applied within large organisations.  You will bring exceptional stakeholder management, strategic thinking and judgement, together with innovative ideas and solutions.  The role will require collaboration with stakeholders at all levels across the University, to ensure the Academic Division’s projects and programs are delivered successfully.

This exciting opportunity based in Hobart or Launceston is offered for an initial period of three years.

Call for Contributions: The annual conference for Researching, Advancing & Inspiring Student Engagement (RAISE4-5th September 2019

The call for contributions is now live and we ask for your proposals by 16th February, 2019. We celebrate 10 years of RAISE this year! There will be keynotes from Bruce Macfarlane, Cathy Bovill and Colin Bryson. 

The conference offers the opportunity to showcase practice and research and take part in lively discussion about the impact of student engagement and partnership (this year’s main theme) Staff in all roles, students, and others interested in university and college higher education are welcome to contribute and we particularly welcome student led and collaborative submissions between students and staff.

Following the conference at the same venue on Sept 6th, there will be a Development Day with workshops and meetings of Special interest Groups. We invite colleagues to submit proposals for such workshops.

MERGA Conference 2019
Bird Registration Deadline: 31st May 2019

The 42nd Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia Conference (MERGA) will be held from 30 June- 4 July 2019 at Curtin University, Western Australia. The conference has a theme of “Research Impacting Practice”. This focus was chosen to advance the mathematical experience of the students to whom we ultimately contribute. We are fortunate to have been able to attract some highly regarded international speakers in Professors Jere Confrey, Paul Cobb, Doug Clements, and Julie Sarama. In addition, Professor Di Siemon will deliver the Clements Foyster Address and Professor Doug Clarke the Teachers’ Day Keynote speech.
The conference will offer several networking and social functions in picturesque Perth City.
