Call for pre-conference workshop proposals: 2019 HERDSA Conference, Auckland​

Invitation to the ASCILITE 2018 Conference
26 - 28 November 2018

It’s not too late to register for ASCILITE’s 35th International Conference on Innovation, Practice and Research in the Use of Educational Technologies in Tertiary Education.

The updated ASCILITE 2018 conference program is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to engage with researchers, academics, practitioners and the educational technology industry, observe demonstrations of leading education innovations and enjoy social and networking events.

Enjoy a digitally enabled conference experience in technologically enhanced classrooms, as well as traditional discussions and face-to-face events to initiate the collaborations of tomorrow.

The conference will feature informative presentations and keynotes from Dr. Paul J. LeBlanc (President of Southern New Hampshire University), Margaret Bearman (Associate Professor of Research at the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning, Deakin University) and Jan Owen AM, a highly regarded social entrepreneur, innovator, commentator and author. Additionally, there will be two Satellite Events and a range of Sunday workshops.

The conference dinner has an Oceans - Nautical/Pirate/Beach theme and as always this event will be a night of fun, celebration and great music augmented by a backdrop of the beautiful Mount Duneed Estate winery.

The conference will be held at the waterfront campus of Deakin University from Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 November 2018 (with workshops on the Sunday).

2) e-Exams Symposium (Melbourne, Australia).

Education institutions now face significant choices in how examinations will be modernised. This will lead to substantial investment over the medium term and will certainly establish the pedagogic framework for higher stakes assessment for years to come - this is your opportunity to engage in the conversation and to be informed for effective decision making for secure, scalable, authentic e-exams.
The e-Exams Symposium will be held face to face on Saturday 24 November 2018 in Melbourne, Australia.
Professor Geoff Crisp, PVC(E) UNSW will chair the proceedings - Geoff is well known for his work on e-Assessment.
Sessions include:
- Head of e-Learning Service at Alpen-Adria University, Klagenfurt, Austria, a university with 40% uptake of e-exams.
- Senior specialist in e-exams at the national Matriculation Examinations Board of Finland speaking about the roll out of their national e-exams project.
- Student panel exploring their experiences of e-Exams.
- Discussions will also explore e-exams pedagogy and assessment design, technology, logistics, robustness, security issues and more!
An Australian national project that saw development of an authentic, robust, e-exams platform and 20 trials across multiple university partners will be discussed.
All education sectors are welcome.
