Denise Chalmers elected HERDSA President-Elect

You are here

The call for nominations for President-elect closed on 5 March and as only one nomination was received no election for the President-elect is required.

I'm pleased to announce that Emeritus Professor Denise Chalmers from Western Australia is therefore elected as President for the term 2019-2021 and will serve as President-elect for 2018-2019.

Denise's election will be confirmed at the AGM in July at the HERDSA conference.

Denise is a long standing member of HERDSA and was elected to Life Membership in 2017.  Denise has over 25 years demonstrated leadership in higher education, leading two university Centres of Teaching and Learning as Director and was a Foundation Director of the Carrick Institute (later ALTC) with responsibility for Awards, Fellowships and International Links. She has served as President and Vice President, Council of Australian Directors of Academic Development (CADAD) from 2008-2014. She has led several institutional, national and international initiatives and projects including recognising and rewarding teaching, developing and embedding teaching quality criteria and indicators and promoting the use of performance indicators to guide decision making and resource allocation. Denise was awarded an OLT National Senior Teaching Fellowship in 2015 and an Australian OLT Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning in 2014.

I am sure you will agree that with Denise’s vast experience and connections both in Australasia and internationally, HERDSA will be in good hands.

Regards

Allan Goody
HERDSA President
