OLT response to HERDSA

Ms Di Weddell, Branch Manager of the Student Information and Learning Branch in the Department of Education and Training has advised Allan Goody that  in the 2016−17 Budget the Australian Government has redirected the $18 million of funding  from the Promotion of Excellence in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PELTHE) administered by the OLT to fund new transparency and quality measures. HERDSA's response to closure of OLT

HERDSA President Allan Goody has written to Senator Simon Birmingham on behalf of the HERDSA members to request action on the imminent closure of the Australian Government Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT). As the President of HERDSA Allan asked the Minister to secure adequate funding to maintain the OLT or a replacement body to ensure the reputation of Australia’s higher education is maintained and that our teachers in higher education are recognised and supported in their endeavours to provide the best quality educational experience for their students. 

EOI called for Editor(s) of HERD (Higher Education Research & Development)

HERD is the Journal of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA)

Seven issues of HERD are published annually through Taylor & Francis. One issue per year is generally a special issue, the topic and scope being decided by the Editorial Team.

The appointment of Editor/s will be for three years initially with an option of renewal for a second three-year term. Preference will be given to applications that include members from Australasia.

SIGS in the HERDSA Conference

HERDSA is seeking leaders who are passionate about other aspects of higher education to establish further inaugural SIGs. If you are interested in leading the establishment of a SIG in a particular area or joining the STEM Education SIG please indicate your preferences by responding to this online survey which will take only a minute to complete.

Roger Landbeck Professional Development Fund

The Roger Landbeck Professional Development Fund was launched at the 2015 HERDSA Annual Conference. The goal of the fund is to promote the enhancement of higher education learning and students by advancing equity, diversity and social justice among staff and students.

HERDSA members are encouraged to make a contribution to the fund to support early career academics from a disadvantaged backgrounds or emerging higher education, or academic development communities having a greater engagement with HERDSA networks, activities and events.
