HERDSA GUIDES
The HERDSA Guides series continues the tradition of HERDSA
publications known as the "Green Guides" and the "Gold Guides".
The merging into one series reflects the progressive blurring of the boundaries
between the roles of researcher, teacher, curriculum designer, manager and professional
development or learning support specialist. The providers of higher education
represent a mix of skills and attributes that all contribute to preparing students
who, as Ingrid Moses has previously described "will be prepared as educated,
culturally and socially aware people to lead the professions, and will be life-long
learners".
In this series some Guides contain pragmatic ideas for
immediate use by teachers, educational developers, curriculum designers, learning
support specialists and managers. Others describe, analyse and discuss particular
challenges for teaching or learning and suggest ways in which those challenges
can be resolved and managed. Proposals submitted for consideration for publication
as a HERDSA Guide are reviewed by the Editorial Committee. The final manuscript
is subjected to a refereeing and editorial process that seeks to ensure that
the Guide meets the criteria for publication and that it has wide applicability
for the intended audience of the HERDSA Guide series. Both the transferability
and the sharing of innovative practices within and across disciplines are hallmarks
of a HERDSA Guide.
HERDSA is always interested in
receiving proposals for Guides which address contemporary issues in higher education.
Any person or group interested in submitting a proposal to the Editorial Committee
should read Guidelines for those interested in becoming
an author of a HERDSA Guide prior to submission. HERDSA may also commission
Guides on selected topics.
